R001-020The 2010 Salmon and Halibut season is ready for kick off at Port Renfrew on Vancouver Island. The word is out and everyone is jacked for another exciting fishing season. To start the pre-season off with a little excitement and good news… The Seattle Times released the US  Fish and Wildlife forcast of 652,700 Columbia River Chinook to return for our 2010 fishing season. Combined with our strong numbers of Coho and forcasted Chinook to return to the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia watersheds, it is potentially the largest return of fish in the last 60 years. Remember 90% of these Columbia River fish are hatchery clipped,so they will be easy to identify. These fish will provide lots of early action in the Port Renfrew and Off-Shore waters of Swiftsure Bank, so re-spool your reels and sharpen your hooks for another fantastic season. Some effective tackle to target these fish, try using Tomic and Coyote spoons in 4″ to 6″. Green glow, Army Truck and the Cop Car are always effective. UV hoochies are also hard to beat and feeding fish have a hard time resisting the bait! With respect to flashers, try Hot Spots New UV glow…with the right combination, it’s guaranteed!  Call Sport Fishing Charters at 1-866-537-2838 or vistit us on-line www.pacificsportsfishing.ca
